Important Dates in March

March 3 – Bake Sale

Each year the primary department hosts a bake sale to raise money for the highschool missions outreach.  The Kindie parents have been asked to provide the treats to sell for this event.  I guess it has been the reputation of Kindie parents for being gung-ho for these kinds of things!  IEach item will sell for $1.  Here’s our chance to show our awesome creativeness.  If time is an issue, Tim Hortons donuts are also good sellers 😉

March 10 – Term Two report cards go home

March 14-28 – Spring Break!

Pink Shirt Day

Just a quick reminder that this Wednesday children can wear casual bottoms and a pink shirt.  We will be having a K-3 assembly focused on being “Buddies not Bullies.”  I realize that not all boys would have a pink shirt in their wardrobe.  Hopefully you can find something to borrow or, perhaps, try washing that load of bright reds with your load of white t-shirts!  Ta da!  Pink shirts for the whole family 😉

Happening This Week…

  • Since last week was so short we will spend another week learning our rather lengthy N verse: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
  • Lately I’ve been hearing “I’m still hungry!” a lot when lunch time is through.  I think some of the boys and girls might be going through a bit of a growth spurt.  It might be a good idea to ask your child if they would like an extra snack or two in their lunch.
  • Here is a peek at some of our centers this week:

  • We will be having  a “healthy smiles” presentation this Wednesday by a local dentist and orthodontist.  I’m sure we will come home motivated to take good care of our teeth!
  • Remember to dress your child in Valentine colours this Thursday and thank you to those who signed up to bring a treat for our little celebration in the afternoon.
  • This week some of the grade 11 and 12 students are job shadowing in the community.  Our class is blessed to have Gabby with us for the week.  She is considering a career in Education and is doing a great job helping us.  She even read us a story today!

Family Theme

During the month of February and March our class will be exploring the topic of “Families”. We will be looking at the similarities and differences of families, our stories and traditions, and family members’ rights, roles, and responsibilities. We know that family was God’s design and what a good idea it was!

In the next week or so would you be able to send in a photograph of your family that we can keep for the duration of our study? It will be returned to you by the end of March. Thanks!

There will be some “homework” during this theme. Please watch for papers in your child’s back and forth folder. Hopefully, this won’t feel like a huge chore for you but will be a nice opportunity for you and your child to reflect on the special qualities of your family experience.

Crazy Hat Day Photos

As promised, I am (finally) posting some photos of Crazy Hat Day!  The creativity that went into these hats blew me away!  It was so fun to see the originality of each one.  You guys are amazing!  As we say in Kindergarten: “Give yourself a pat on the back and say, ‘Good job, me'”!
