Thank You!

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your amazing group gift, the spa gift certificate.  I am so looking forward to enjoying some pampering time!  What a lovely, thoughtful gift!  Thanks also for the words of appreciation and sentiments expressed in cards and drawings!

I have loved teaching this class of Kindies.  They have been a blessing to me and I’m sad to see them go but know that they are ready.  I’m excited to see where God takes them in the years ahead!

Wishing you all a wonderful summer…free from home folders and reading charts (haha!) and filled with relaxation and fun family moments together.

Bless you,

Diane Morris

Locker items found

These were left behind in one of the lockers (after names had been removed).  There is a pair of size 4  uniform shorts inside the bag.  I have put them inside the 2nd locker by our classroom door. If they are yours please come this week or next week Monday – Wednesday to collect them.  After that it may be harder to get into the school as the office staff will be on holidays.

I am looking for someone to run a fun day station this Wednesday morning (9-12).  If you are interested please email me at dmorris@highroadacademy.com

Thanks!

Last Week

I cannot believe we have only one week left of this Kindergarten year!  Here is the schedule  for next week so we’re all on the same page:

Monday:  Our last “normal” day (9-3).  We’ll be having a visit with the mobile dairy some time in the day.  Please remember to bring the item you signed up for for Kindie grad.  Your child will come home with all their Kindie work at the end of  the day.

Tuesday:  Kindie Graduation!  Please drop your child off at 9 am in whatever you’d like them to wear under their grad gown.  The program will begin at 9:30 in the chapel. Grandparents and friends are welcome to attend. We will have some refreshments following the program and then the children will be dismissed (11ish). They will bring home their scrapbook.

Wednesday:  Rodeo themed fun day in the gym for K-3.  Children are asked to dress up as cowboys and cowgirls.  They will rotate through stations throughout the morning.  Parents are welcome to stay.  We will dismiss at noon.  Children will bring home their report cards.

Enjoy the weekend and see you all next week!

Wednesday Reminders

Just a quick reminder that today is our last Knight day of the year and also our last Welcome Wednesday.  It is also one of the last opportunities to send in any lingering great badges and reading charts that you might have at home.  See you soon!

Field Trip

Today is our field trip day.  Praise God for nice weather!  I believe everyone now has their waivers signed for Get Air Abbotsford.  Yay!  Since the weather is nice we will be heading directly to the Spray Park afterwards for a picnic lunch and some play time.  Change rooms are limited there so please consider dressing your child in their bathing suit underneath their play clothes today.  Also, please remember to pack a water bottle for your child (labelled).  Thanks!  Looking forward to a fun day!

100 Day

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend.  Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is 100 Day!  Thank you for contributing to our 100 piece snack.  You can still bring your item tomorrow if you haven’t had a chance to already.  Oh, and don’t forget to dress your child like a little old person!  I certainly don’t want to be the only 100 year old!  See you tomorrow!

Grade One Visit

On Wednesday morning our Kindie class will be having a short visit with Miss Evans in her Grade One class.  We hope that this will be a fun experience for the Kindies and a chance to see what a grade one classroom looks like.  When we talked about it today I explained that Miss Evans would not necessarily be their teacher next year since we have two grade one classrooms at our school.  Nevertheless,  it should be a fun little visit!

100 Day

Our class will be celebrating the 100th day of school next Monday!  It takes us part timers a lot longer to get to 100 than everybody else so we’re super ready to celebrate!  Your child came home last week with two letters, one asking you to help them create 100 piece collection and one asking you to bring an item for our 100 piece snack.  Thank you!  If you could have these at school by the end of this week that would help so much with our organization on the big day.

The children are also encouraged to dress up like they are 100 years old!  Here are a few ideas to get your creativity going:

grey hair (baby powder)

hair curlers

glasses

shawl

beaded necklace

bow tie

suspenders

cane

socks with sandals

We’ll want to capture the memories for sure on this one!  I’ll be taking photos during the day but am looking for someone to stay a few extra minutes at the start of the day to take some individual and group photos of the children in their costumes.  Please email me at dmorris@highroadacademy.com if you are available.  Thanks!
