Colouring Contest

As you may have heard, our school has a team of highschool students and teachers who are heading to Thailand over Spring Break on a missions trip.  In order to raise awareness in the elementary department, they are hosting a colouring contest.  In your child’s folder today you should find a “Thailand” colouring page.  If your child would like to participate they can colour the picture and bring it back to school by February 11th.  There will be one winner awarded in each classroom.  The prize will be their colouring page displayed on a special bulletin board for all to see!  Best of luck to all participants!

Welcome Back

Happy New Year!   I hope you’ll forgive me for the very late Thank You for all of the lovely cards and gifts I received before the Christmas break.  I felt so blessed and spoilt!

Our Christmas was definitely quieter this year with our oldest child away at YWAM in Costa Rica.  We were very thankful for video calling which allowed us to share the holiday with her to some degree despite the distance between us.

I trust that you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday with your family and loved ones.  The children were telling me all kinds of stories about the fun that they had on their Christmas break.  Well done, moms and dads!  I hope you managed to squeeze in a nap or two on the couch or do something fun for yourself.  Let’s face it.  Christmas can be a lot of work!

Here are a few dates to add to your January calendar:

Wednesday, January 16 – Crazy Hat Day

Monday, January 21 – Kindie field trip to Wayland Sports

Wednesday, January 23 – Report cards go home

Wednesday, January 30 – Knight Day/Hot Lunch

Also, starting this month we will begin “Welcome Wednesdays” in our classroom on Wednesday mornings.  If you have the time when you’re dropping off your child we would love for you to feel welcome to come in for 10 minutes or so and read to your child and maybe one or two of their friends.  If you can’t stay, no worries!  We’ll make sure that each child is included in a reading group.

It’s going to be a great year ahead.  Welcome, 2019!
