Our Final Week

Here are a few more things to consider as we move through our last week of Kindergarten before Summer Holidays:

  1.  Pizza Tuesdays are done for the year so please remember to pack a sandwich in your child’s lunch kit tomorrow.
  2.  Scrapbooks – Your child’s scrapbook is on their desk, ready to be taken home on Tuesday morning.  This year I didn’t print off photos to include in the scrapbook but, instead, compiled a cd of photos for each individual child.  You will find your child’s photo cd in a pocket at the back of their scrapbook.
  3. Bouncy Castle – Our class will be visiting the bouncy castle by the HRA preschool on Tuesday morning.  This should be a fun end of the year activity.
  4. Other Work – Your child will be coming home with their library bag stuffed full of all kinds of work they’ve done throughout the year.  You will also find their baby photo inside.  I will send this home on Tuesday afternoon.
  5. Lockers – Please help your child clean out their locker by Thursday afternoon.
  6. Spray Park – Remember to pack a swim suit and towel for our afternoon fieldtrip on Thursday.
  7. Report Cards – Your child’s final report card will be sent home on Thursday afternoon.

A Few More Details

We’re really in the final stretch now!  I’m sure we’re all looking forward to summer at this point.  This last month of school is such a busy one.

A few more details for you:

Great Badges – I am no longer handing out great badges.  I have asked the children to bring back any that they have at home to exchange for a prize!  Even if it’s just one.

K-3 Fun Day – Next Wednesday morning the primary classes will be participating in a morning of  games and other fun activities in the gym.  Our theme this year is “Circus”.  The children may wear play clothes.  We will meet in the classroom at 9 and will dismiss from our classroom at 12.  I am looking for a couple of helpers to run two stations for me.  If you are interested, please email me at dmorris@highroadacademy.com.  Thanks!

Kindie Grad – The children can come to school in their  play clothes next Thursday since we will be heading to the spray park in the afternoon.  We will have a white gown and grad cap ready for each child to wear over top of their outfit for the ceremony.  If you have a Kindie daughter please consider what hairstyle will work with the hat.  High buns or ponytails would not be the best choice.

pillows

Yesterday you should have received an email from our office with an attached letter from Fraser Health.  It was in regards to an incident of head lice.  Please make sure that you follow the steps outlined and let the office know that you have done so by either printing out the form and bringing it to the office or by emailing the office.  Thanks!

Just to be safe I will be sending home our pillows today.  We will manage just fine without them for the last 3 naps!

More June Details

100 Day:

We had lots of fun celebrating the 100th day of school on Wednesday.  I will be posting some pictures soon.

Library:

The children will no longer be taking out library books.  Please make sure that all borrowed books are returned to the school as soon as possible.

Moving on Up Morning:

I originally blogged the date for this activity as Wednesday, June 15th.  Please note that it will be happening on Thursday, June 16th instead.

Baby Photo:

We are spending a bit of time in the next few weeks reflecting on how much we’ve grown this year.  I thought it would also be fun to see how much the children have changed since they were much younger.  Would you be able to send a baby photo of your child to school on Tuesday?  Please bring it in an envelope marked with your child’s name.  We will be playing a guessing game with them later in the week.  I will make sure your photo is returned to you when we are finished with the activity.  Thanks!

Kindie Grad:

Kindie Grad will take place on Thursday, June 23rd in the Highroad Chapel.  Please drop your child off at the classroom at the usual time on this morning.  We will begin our graduation program at 9:30 and should be finished by 10:30 am.  Feel free to invite grandparents or other loved ones to this special event.

At 11:00 the children will enjoy a pizza lunch in the classroom.  By 11:30 we will board the bus and head to Island Farms for an ice cream treat then will make our way to the Garrison outdoor spray park for the afternoon. We will be back at the school by 3:00 for pick up.  We would love to have family members join us for this fun time.  Please watch for a permission slip in your child’s planner this week.

Summer Connections:

The summer months ahead are a great opportunity for connecting with others and having fun with friends outside of the school environment.  I have posted a sign up page inside our classroom door for PT Kindie parents to provide their contact information if they are interested in perhaps making play date arrangements over the summer with other PT Kindie families.  Not all families have had a chance to gather emails or phone numbers from other parents so hopefully this can help.  I will make a photocopy of this sheet at the end of the month and distribute to those that shared their info.

Uniforms Today

A couple of people asked about how the children should dress for 100 Day so I thought I’d quickly blog in case others were wondering. We will be enjoying our 100 Day activities today in our school uniforms.  See you soon!
