Welcome Wednesdays

On Wednesday mornings starting this week  we would like to welcome you to stay for a few minutes (10-15) if your schedule allows, for some reading time with your child and possibly a few extra friends.  I am excited for this opportunity to open our classroom door to parents and grandparents and hope that it will be a fun way to start the day.  Siblings are welcome join along.  You must have a completed criminal record check and will need to sign in at the office upon arrival.  We hope to see you there!

May Dates

Wow, May is just around the corner!  It’s a big month in the Morris family as my daughter, Madeline, will be getting married on the May long weekend.  Please join us in praying for good weather ☀️

Because I’m feeling sentimental I dug out her Kindie school photo.  Seems like it wasn’t so long ago.

Ok, back on track…

Here are some dates to keep in mind for the month ahead.  Some extras may be added as we go along.  Remember to get your criminal records check done if you’d like to join us on any upcoming excursions.

Wednesday, May 4 – Super Hero Dress Up Day

Wednesday, May 18 – Jeans Day Hospital Fundraiser

Friday, May 20 – Pro D Day (no school)

Monday, May 23  – Victoria Day

A Note from Admin

As our Little Digger and Little Hoopster after school programs continue, we have noticed that many siblings of students involved are also staying at school while waiting for parents to pick them up. We understand that parents often do not want to make multiple trips to the school. However, parents should be aware that after 3:25 there is no supervision available outside on the playground and in any of the other areas of the school. If an accident happens or an incident occurs, staff members may not be available to help. For student safety, we would encourage parents to tell siblings to stay inside the gym along the walls and wait there or in the front foyer until parents arrive. Alternatively, carpooling may be available so siblings do not have to wait at the school. Thank you for your consideration.

Fieldtrip Details

Here is some important information about our field trip on Tuesday April 19.

We will be leaving ASAP in the morning.  Please be on time.  We will not be able to wait for late students.

Students will need:

-to wear casual clothes or Knight wear for our field trip and dress for the weather.  This is a rain or shine event and we will be outdoors.

-to bring a snack in their jacket pocket that they can eat at the Blue Heron Reserve.  I will be bringing a juice box for each child to have there.  Please have the snack in your child’s jacket pocket first thing in the morning so they don’t need to think about figuring this out at school.

Home Reading

Today in your child’s folder you will find a yellow reading log for the month of April.  This sheet is to keep track of your child’s daily reading.  Please try to find a spot for it close to where you like to read together.  Each time your child reads (or is read to) for 10 minutes they can colour in one of the pictures.  At the end of the month your child can exchange their fully coloured (or nearly fully coloured) page for a prize!

Note: Since we are beginning mid-month, I’m only expecting 3 weeks of reading to be done by the end of the month.

I love this quote:

“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents”

Happy Reading!
