Goodbye

With mixed emotions we will be saying “goodbye” to a special classmate tomorrow.  Our friend Chase is going to be spending his last day with us.  We will miss him so much when he leaves but are excited for him as he begins a new “adventure”!   We love you Chase!  Come back and visit us, please. You will always have friends here at Highroad!

Celebration of Learning

We are so proud of all that our students have learned so far this year!  To honour their hard work and effort the primary classes will be setting aside some time tomorrow, January 30th to celebrate!  We are calling it a “Celebration of Learning.”  Our class will be enjoying a movie (The Berenstain Bears: Snowbears) and an icecream treat.  A dairy free option will be available for students with dietary restrictions.  Good job, Kindies!  Let’s celebrate!

Math Mayhem

On Tuesday night this week the highschool Math department will be hosting an evening of games and Mathematical challenges in the gymnasium.  The fun will begin at 6:30 pm and you are welcome to join us!

Pink Shirt Order Form

On Wednesday, February 28th our class will be participating in a schoolwide “Pink Shirt Day” and will be learning about anti-bullying.  Your child may wear casual bottoms and any pink shirt that they might already own on that day or there is an option to order a special “pink shirt.”  An order form will be coming home today in your child’s folder.  Please fill it out and return it with a payment of $8 by Wednesday of next week (January 24) if you would like to order one.

Welcome Wednesdays

On Wednesday mornings starting this coming week  we would like to welcome you to stay for a few minutes (10-15) if your schedule allows, for some reading time with your child and possibly a few extra friends.  I am excited for this opportunity to open our classroom door to parents and grandparents and hope that it will be a fun way to start the day.  Siblings are welcome join along.  We hope to see you there!

Cozy Casual Day

A schoolwide cozy casual day was planned for this past Friday.  It was a reward for meeting our school’s goal for the food drive.  As you’ve likely heard, school was cancelled on Friday.  So, the cozy casual day will be enjoyed on Monday.  That means we get to participate.  Yay!  Feel free to send your child in comfortable, cozy play clothes for the day!  Have a great weekend!

Winter Attire

It is definitely feeling like winter outside these days!  Please note that we do send the children outside to play for recess and lunch.  We find that it’s good for them to get some fresh air and unstructured run-around time and it gives teachers a chance to leave their classrooms and have a quick break.  Since our playground is currently covered with snow we are asking that you send your child to school with a pair of boots that they can slip on for outside play times.  A pair of mitts and a toque would also be a good idea.   How fun is it that this snow has stayed around so long!  It’s a kid’s dream!
