Service Day

Tomorrow, Monday, is Service Day for grades k-6.  All of our permission forms are in and we have a lot of parents able to join us.  There will be one adult for every two children.  We will be leaving the school at 1 pm to get on the bus and head to the Save-On-Foods parking lot and should be finished our lollipop bombing by 1:30.  If you signed up to help us please meet us at the school by 12:55.  Please send your child to school in their regular uniform.  Thank you!

Volunteer Needed

On Wednesday, May 8th the primary department (K-3) is planning a day of fun and learning about First Nations culture.  Each of the primary classes will rotate through 8 stations hosted by each of the primary teachers.  Since I do not have a helper in my classroom at this point I am looking for a parent who could travel with my PT Kindie students as they visit each of the different stations.  If you would be interested in helping on this day please email me at dmorris@highroadacademy.com. Thank you!

Here are some upcoming dates for the month of May:

Some students went home today with a finish-up job in their home folder because they were not able to complete it in class.  Please help your child finish the gluing task and return it to school in their folder.  Thanks!

A message from Mr. Morris

Dear Highroad Community,

We’re almost there! It’s just over a week until the 40th Anniversary Weekend. Things are coming together and we’re very excited about gathering as a community and celebrating what God has done through and in the lives of families that call Highroad Academy their school.

Our Alumni basketball and volleyball games on Friday, April 26th kick off our Anniversary weekend The volleyball starts at 5pm and then we’ll be having a three team basketball mini-tournament. Come out and see the legends of the past and present stars. We will have the café open as well as a food truck selling burgers, hotdogs, and fries. Bring the family out for a great evening of fun. We look forward to seeing you there.

Saturday, April 27th, is our Gala Dinner. We will start at 5:30pm with appetizers. Dinner will be served at 6:00pm. A few notable guests will share their Highroad memories and we’ll be showcasing some iconic HRA videos. It’s going to be a fabulous night of reconnecting, reminiscing, and enjoying delicious food.

As part of this celebration we’re having a silent auction to raise money to complete the beautification project we started in September. We’re very thankful to all the individuals and businesses that have contributed items or services to this fundraiser. We have well over 60 lots to bid on including vacation getaways, décor items, tools, electronics, home improvement services and so much more. The deadline to buy tickets for the Gala Dinner is next Tuesday, April 23rd at 10am so head to the school website (https://highroadacademy.com/product/40th-anniversary-gala/) to confirm your spot now.

Blessings,
Stuart Morris

Service Day

Today your child will be bringing home a bright pink permission form in their home folder.  It explains our Service Day activity for Monday, April 29th.  Please fill it out and return it to school next week.  I now have the bussing schedule and wanted to let you know that we will be leaving the school at 1 pm.  The activity will take about 30 minutes and then we will head back to the school.  We will be needing parent help for our outing.  If you are able to help there would be lots of room on the bus for you to ride along with us!

This Week’s Spelling Words

Our spelling words for this week are:

six

all

my

not

ten

We won’t have a list next week since it’s a shorter week.

We are continuing to review our single letter phonograms (a-z) and are learning some multi-letter phonograms.  These are the ones we have introduced so far:

ee, ea, sh. th. wh, ch, ou, ow, or, ar, oo, oy, oi, ay, ai, and ck

Kindies are not expected to know all those multi letter phonograms by the end of the year.  Don’t panic if your child isn’t ready.  They will learn them next year in due time.  I just wanted to let you know where we’re at in our learning so that you can support at home as your child is ready.

Baby Food Jars

I am in need of some small sized baby food jars for an upcoming project.  If you happen to have any that you are not needing I would love to have them!  Please drop them off at the classroom.  Thanks!
